Description
John James Audubon was always trying to convey as much information as possible about the birds’ habitats through his illustrations. The Wood Duck is a perfect example of this, in that Wood Duck are “cavity nesters”, they nest in trees. This is a unique feature of the Wood Duck’s lifestyle that Audubon was able to translate through his drawing.
The Wood Duck looks very elegant paired with the Pileated Woodpecker. Great artwork for a home or cabin in a wooded setting.
