Description
This bird is now referred to as the rock Ptarmigan. This species resides on the northernmost edge of North America, including Alaska and northern Canada.
The Rock Ptarmigan changes its coloring depending on the season, having a mottled light and dark appearance in warmer months, and switching to a pure white coloration in winter months. This adaptive color change allows the Ptarmigans to camouflage in their environment, blending in well with their surroundings.
