Description
John James Audubon encountered this species while on a trip to the Florida Keys in 1832.
The Zenaida Dove breeds throughout the Caribbean and in the northern part of the Yucatan peninsula. It is extremely rare in Florida.
It is painted on a branch of teh Autograph tree, which is also sometimes called a “Pitch Apple”. These trees are fairly common in the Florida Keys.
This is the national bird of the island of Anguilla, in the Lesser Antilles.
